Day 10–March 28, 2018–At Sea

Today was the ultimate kick back, relax, watch movies and just enjoy our day at Sea kind of day.  The morning started off with our typical breakfast in the cabin.  While flipping through the channels (there is absolutely no TV Guide) we found what we believe was the start of a movie.  We think (once again no TV Guide) is was Glass Castle or something like that.  It was actually based on a true story and from a book Robin read several years ago.  It was OK but not great.

We finally managed to get dressed and make it out the door to find a place to sit, have a cup of coffee, read a book, do a little needlework and watch the world go buy.  After that it was time to change locations so we headed out by the pool, found a table,  had a little lunch and passed the time by continuing our people watching.  BTW, people are very interesting and sure do come in every size and shape.

Ukulele time…………………supposedly we perform in just a few more days but honestly we sure don’t see how.  We don’t think we’re the worst, but other than playing and singing Pearly Shells we think we’re in big trouble.  But remember we bought bright Aloha shirts to wear so at least we’ll look good.

We’ve all heard the expression “it’s a small world”, well, it certainly is.  After visiting with a couple sitting next to us at ukulele, we asked where they are from.  Since this is a round trip cruise out of LA, it’s not surprising that many of us are from Southern California.  Not only is this couple from California, they live a few houses down and across the street from Robin’s childhood home in Lakewood Village.  Robin was at 4341 Montair and they live at 4322 Montair.  It really is a very small, small world.

Time for another movie.  This time it’s in the Princess Theater and featured I, Tonya.  We wouldn’t have gone out of our way to see it at home but it was something to do in the afternoon.  Like everyone had told us, it was good, better than expected, and we enjoyed our afternoon.  After getting out of the movie we had a little time to kill before getting ready for our 2nd formal night.  So what else was there to do but have a cocktail.  We could have repeated one of the early pictures but decided to stage our Manhattan and French Martini a little different.

Dinner was lobster night and chateaubriand , yum!!!!!  Followed by a show back in the Princess Theater.  This time it was a production show called British Invasion.  It’s pretty amazing how good these young performers are.  They each have to be multitalented and quick learners.  It was a delightful show.

We ended our day back in the cabin and watched another movie.  This time we actually caught the start of it and the title, “Dark Tower”.  This is loosely based on a Stephen King series of books.  John has read the entire series and says this shared a few things with the books but like many adaptations they changed it up quite a bit.  Oh well, we watched the entire thing and then read our books and called it a night.

Tomorrow will no doubt be more of the same.

However, we really do need to spend some time practicing our ukulele.

Hugs,

John and Robin
