Day 1 – November 14, 2010

Today was the first day of our vacation, celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary.  This year we decided to make a week long cruise to the Mexican Rivera.  We’re sailing on the Mariner of the Seas part of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line.

Shelli dropped us off around 12:30 at the cruise terminal in San Pedro.  It was amazing how quickly we were able to check our bags, go through security, check in and get on-board.  As we wondered around in an attempt to get our bearings, we realize it the brother ship to Voyager of the Sea, the first RCCL ship we sailed on many years ago.

Here’s the view from our balcony.  OK so it’s not so great yet, but you just know it’s going to get much better.  We’re excited!

Ahhhhhhh, our first drink, or should I say the remains of our first drink, an  Ultimate Mai Tai.  They were yummy and packed a wallop.  We decided, one was plenty to start the day off with.

Time to Muster.  It was a real relief that they’ve changed the rules and we didn’t have to wear our life jackets.  We still had to stand out there for what seemed an eternity but after what happened on Carnival last week, we were all very patient and listened carefully.

As we left the Port of San Pedro, the light got dimmer and dimmer.  We’re on our way.

On the left is a beautiful chandler that is HUGE and hangs in the middle of the dining room.  The one on the right is a gorgeous light fixture that hangs in an atrium.

Day 2 will be at sea.  We’re looking  forward to a lazy day.

Love you all,

John and Robin

  2. Have fun on your cruise. Not sure what ports you may go to, but if you have a chance checkout their stores for buttons & zippers. I think you'll find some great deals!
