We have been to Honolulu many times in the past. We used to love it but after the last several visits we were disappointed. Lets face it, it’s a big city and has lost much of the charm it used to have. So instead of doing something just for the sake of doing something we kept the day fairly simple.
We both forgot to bring a bright Aloha Shirt for our big ukulele performance later this weak so we jumped on the Walmart bus and headed to Walmart to make our big purchases.
We may not play well but we’ll look good while faking it.
We followed our exciting trip to Walmart with a little walk around the downtown area. Since it was Sunday very little was open but we didn’t mind, it was a nice walk.

We then walked over to the Aloha Tower for a lunch at Gordon Biersch. We’re always loved to sit out on the end of the pier and enjoy a beer, burger and of course garlic fries. Everything was the same at the restaurant but it was very sad to see that just about all of the stores are now closed. Oh well, I guess that’s progress of some sort but said non the less. After a nice lunch it was back to the Star Princess.
It’s was finally time for our first Mai Tai of the trip. We were so happy to sit at the outside bar on board and enjoy our drinks we forgot to take a picture of them. Oh well it’s a good excuse to have another one tomorrow.
After a little napping it was time to head to dinner. The main dining room was closed so we ate in one of the “anytime” restaurants and enjoyed meeting some new people at our table. Back to our room, watched another movie we’ve never heard of and lights out fairly early. Tomorrow is Kauai and hopefully a trip to a quilt shop.
