Another day, another history lesson. Today we decided to take a trolley tour through the North West portion of D.C. that we hadn’t visited before. We drove by the hotel where President Reagan was shot as well as the hospital where he was operated on. The tour took us by the National Zoo, Georgetown and many of the Embassies. The only place we decided to get off was the National Cathedral. Here are few of the pictures I took.

Once the Trolley ride was over we jump in a cab and headed over to the Supreme Court for a tour our Congressman arranged for us.
As you can see the outside is being renovated which detracts from how beautiful it is. Unfortunately they don’t allow you to take any picture inside but we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Next up……..well of course we had to eat lunch. Today we tried another Diners, Drivers and Dives spot, Tune In. It was a short walk from the Supreme Court and was a great little place. We each had a cold Draft and spent a lot of time reading the menu. We ended up trying two of the items Guy had when he was here, a deep fried hamburger and deep fried mozzarella cheese. Both were great but maybe not too healthy. Oh well, we’re on vacation.
After lunch we decided to walk a little while so we headed back to the west side of the Capital so that we could jump back on another Trolley. Just before it arrived, I snapped this picture of the West facing side of the Capital where the President is inaugurated, in fact it looked like they are already working on the construction.
The last Trolley ride of the day went past many of the Memorials. First up, the Jefferson Memorial.
And a couple of shots of the Washington Monument.
Tomorrow we’re planning on actually visiting some of the Memorials as well as visiting Arlington Cemetery. Until then, we’re in for the night and watching a little TV.
